Starliner and President coupes

In 1953 the Studebaker Starliner was introduced to the public and caused quite a stire. These designs soon began winning international awards. They were considered the four seat equivelant of sports cars. These cars are known as the Loewy Coupes. 22" by 17" Giclee from digital art. I had admired these cars when I was five years old when I saw one in Alexandria, VA in 1954. Not until the Mustang release was such a car available to the public and somwhere in the back of Lee Iacoacca's mind its image and fame must have lingered. The American car companies where awakening to the realization that Europe had plenty of engineering inovations to offer. The Loewy coupes have never earned the reputation they so deserve.
