In every major city in the world there are car shows where the new models are shown to the public. In the most important of these shows such as held in Zurich, Paris, Detroit, Tokyo and New York there are large and small manufacturers who also bring their futuristic designs to the turntables as prototypes. Sometimes these show cars are complete ground up designs from the major car makers or are a design exercise placed on an existing chassis when presented by small design firms such as Pininfarina, Giugiaro, and Bertone.
